Tanium Cloud Release Date Starting On: December 19th, 2024

This is the initial release of Tanium Cloud Workloads, a new solution for managing containerized environments, included as part of the Tanium Core Platform.

Features

  • Comprehensive container inventory for Kubernetes clusters
  • Detection of rogue containers and containers running in privileged mode
  • Registry scanning for image inventory
  • SBOMs for images found in scanned registries (requires SBOM, visibility of packages requires Asset)
  • Enforce and audit Kubernetes runtime cluster policies (requires Enforce)
  • Vulnerability scanning for images in scanned registries. Container image scanning currently detects vulnerabilities in the following languages and libraries: Python, Node.js, PHP, and Ruby (requires SBOM and Comply)

Known Issues

  • When working with managed reports provided by Cloud Workloads, selecting rows, clicking on counts, adding filters, and using controls such as “Drill Down in Interact” might not be compatible with the provided data, causing “no results” to be returned.
  • When viewing the list of registries, adding filters can cause no results to be returned.

Considerations

Tanium Cloud Workloads is a new solution, not an upgrade to the existing Tanium Containers content. To uninstall the legacy Tanium Containers solution from Tanium Cloud, contact Tanium Support. For detailed instructions on uninstalling the Tanium Client Container, refer to the Tanium Containers User Guide.
