Thank you for choosing Tanium. The following Release Notes document changes between releases of the Tanium Server.
This platform release includes the release of both a Windows and Linux Tanium Server.

Tanium Server for Windows and Linux v7.5.5.1162

General Availability Release Date: September 13, 2022.

Special Notes

  • This version of Tanium Server shipped with: Console (Version 3.3.28.0000).
  • Tanium discourages new installations of this software version on Windows 2012 and 2012-R2 due to its scheduled End-Of-Life on 2023-10-10.
  • Technology preview: The Tanium Server now offers User and User Group synchronization with SCIM providers, starting with support for Microsoft Azure and now Okta.

Security Updates

  • This release includes security updates. Details of the issues, including affected versions and mitigation information, can be obtained within Tanium's Support Portal or by contacting your TAM.

New Features

  • Tanium Platform components now ship with SQLite v3.39.2.

Improvements

  • The TDownloader will now fail sooner its connection attempts but will still allow as long as 5 minutes to complete the connection operation in its last retry attempt.
  • Fixed an issue in the processing of User Groups to enable the Tanium Server to work with Okta SCIM services.
  • Tanium builds now avoid the use of the stax system call which might not be supported on all Linux platforms.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a condition in the handling of parametrized Sensors which would be too large for the Tanium protocol once their parameters were added, resulting in the logging of Failed to build question NNNN: Group not found messages in the Tanium server's logs.
  • Fixed a problem where log rotations would not happen correctly for log files already larger than 4GB.
  • Fixed an issue in the invocation of TDownloader by server plugins where the connection timeout option was incorrectly passed as an integer instead of its string representation, resulting in the error: Error running plugin: expected str instance, int found.
  • Fixed a condition in the Export API of the Tanium Server where deeply nested structures would incur in a InvalidJSONStructure exception error.

Known Issues and Workarounds

  • An issue has been found with this release causing the pre-login banner to not be functional. It will be addressed in a follow up 7.5.5 update.
