Release Date: April 27, 2021.
Special Notes
- N/A.
New Features
- The Tanium Platform components now use the
http-parserv2.9.4 library.
Improvements
- The Tanium Client will now log a clearer message when the Sensor evaluation child process exits normally due to a change in the process' environment and will do so only at
LogVerbosityLevel=41and above. This instead of using the less friendly message:Exiting sensor child process because environment changed. - The Tanium Client now implements a number of improvements to the way SQLite databases are accessed, which results in reduced disk I/O activity on the endpoint.
- The Tanium Client now provides a more robust detection and handling for corrupt SQLite database failures.
- The Tanium Client now operates its
action-manager.dbin WAL mode to reduce disk activity on the endpoint. - The Tanium Client has changed its behavior to operate its
sensors.dbin both WAL andNORMALsynchronous mode instead ofFULLto reduce endpoint disk activity. - The Tanium Client now uses the
INSERT OR IGNORESQL vocable instead ofREPLACEfor Action Manager database elements, thus reducing observed database activity. - The Tanium Client now operates the
question-answers.dbSQLite database in WAL-mode to reduce disk activity on the endpoint. - The Tanium Client now operates the
reported-strings.dbSQLite database in WAL-mode to reduce disk activity on the endpoint.
Bug Fixes
- The Tanium Client uninstaller on Windows will now uninstall and clean out the installation directory, or error out if the registry key for the installation path (
Path) is not set. Additionally, they will refuse to uninstall if the uninstaller has a different version than the actual software installed. - Fixed a typo in the Tanium Client's
install.logwith a message that read "tanium-init.datt" instead of the correcttanium-init.dat. - Fixed a bug in the v7.4 versions of the Tanium Client which would produce the error
No such file or directory: "/logs"for theDownload Statusesreserved Sensor. - Fixed a bug in the Tanium Client which would cause Actions with a large distribute over time (DoT) to be executed right after the client reset cycle, resulting in an effective DoT which could not be longer than
4 hours. - Fixed a problem with the Tanium Client that would leave files behind in the
TC/Downloads/logsdirectory, causing increased I/O activity.
