Major Features and Improvements
- Meltdown/Spectre OS and BIOS fixes. The OS fixes are installed upon upgrade to TanOS 1.2.0. BIOS fixes must be manually installed from the Appliance Maintenance > Advanced menu. It can take up to 30 minutes to complete the BIOS update on the largest appliances.
- Database daily backups are now automatic.
- Module-specific TSG support. You can now export Tanium Support Gatherer (TSG) reports for TanOS, any specific module, or all modules.
- Improved log viewer. It is easier to view log, copy log files, and delete log files with the Tanium Support > Log File Access menu.
- TanOS 1.2.0 includes core platform server installers for 7.1.314.3071 and 7.2.314.2831.
- Tanium Server 7.2 has native support for TLS 1.2. When you install Tanium Server 7.2, all of the necessary TLS314 certificates and keys are generated, and the necessary Tanium Server settings are configured automatically. To enable TLS for the Tanium Client to Tanium Server network segment, log into the Tanium Console, go to Administration > Global Settings, and set ReportingTLSMode (Client, Numeric) = 0, 1 or 2.
- Tanium Server Hardening. Tanium Server installs will enforce hardened TLS 1.2 SSLCipherSuites only.
Known Issues and Workarounds
- Upgrade to TanOS 1.2.0 requires upgrade to TanOS Shell 541 as a prerequisite.
- Must reconfigure Module Server sync on the active node following upgrade to TanOS 1.2.0.
- The Discover TSG option and the "All Module" option do not work until next Discover release. Other module TSG and TanOS options work fine.
- Tanium Connect file share destination does not currently work.
- Following TanOS 1.2 upgrade, it may take up to 1 hour before the Status menus show current status data.
