Tanium Reveal 2.0.143

Release Date: 18 April 2023

Upgrade Notes

  • When upgrading from Reveal 1.x, Path Exclusions will not be migrated to valid regex in all cases. If upgrading from Reveal 1.x, please review all Profiles to confirm the entries in the Path Exclusions are valid/properly escaped regex or Scans may not run and endpoints will be stuck in an Initializing state.

Improvements

  • Complete rewrite of the Reveal endpoint engine.
    • Improved performance and vastly reduced CPU load on each endpoint.
    • Consolidated with other tooling for easier management.
    • Removed Lucene database.
  • Streamlined metrics gathering on the Reveal Dashboard.
  • Made Quick Search an optional feature.
    • Quick Search remains enabled by default but can be disabled on a per profile basis for further performance improvements.
  • Added the ability to use wildcards in Path Exclusions.

Fixes

  • Fixes an issue where viewing snippets could cause the browser to become unresponsive.
  • Fixes an issue where Computer Group management rights were not honored by Rule Set targeting.
  • Fixes an issue where the name of a Rule Set and/or Rule were displayed incorrectly in the Affect Files Summary view.
  • Fixes an issue with errors being logged when loading the Quick Search page.
  • Fixes an issue with Computer Groups not being visible when creating a Profile.
  • Fixes an issue with the presence of a Computer Group named “Tanium Reveal” was causing installation and upgrade failures.

Tools Versions

  • Includes Index 3.4.659

Known Issues

  • On some endpoints, it is possible that total disk usage with Reveal 2.x will exceed that used by Reveal 1.x. In Reveal 2.x, Quick Search is enabled by default and disabling Quick Search in Reveal Profiles will significantly decrease disk usage by not storing the snippet data for Quick Search. Rules will still function normally with Quick Search disabled. Disk usage improvements are planned features of future Reveal releases.
  • The ability to parse SQLite databases has been deprecated in this release.
