Tanium Reveal 1.13.205

Release Date: 02 November 2020

Important Notes

  • With this release we are ending Tanium Administrative Console and Workbench support for Internet Explorer 11. For the best experience please use a recent version of Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Mozilla Firefox to access the Tanium Console.
  • Tanium Core Platform 7.4 or later is required.

  • A new endpoint configuration framework, replacing the actions and packages formerly used to configure endpoint tooling.
  • This release includes a new "Overview" page with metrics indicating the state of scans, matches, and findings along with the overall state of endpoint health.
  • Additional content has been provided and may be queried via interact, sensors include:
    • Endpoints with Unconfirmed Sensitive Data

    • Endpoints with Confirmed Sensitive Data
  • The "Reveal - Status" sensor has been improved and reports additional details about the work performed by Reveal, e.g. how many files are indexable, indexed, pending scan, and scanned in the preceding 24 hours.
  • Added Reveal Coverage, Endpoints with Unconfirmed Sensitive Data, and Endpoints with Confirmed Sensitive Data business metrics for the Risk and Security Metrics Board available in the Trends Gallery.
  • Throttling of reveal scanning is now handled by the Tanium Client and does not consume CPU independent of the Tanium Client; the default CPU Usage Limit for the Tanium Client is 5%.

Issues Addressed

  • Fixed issue that caused database locks resulting in service unavailability.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause index progress to reset unexpectedly.
  • Improved support for files and file systems using multi-byte characters for file names.

Known Issues

  • Defunct Index processes have been observed being left on Linux and Mac endpoints. These defunct processes are harmless as they do not use resources. This issue will be addressed in a future version of Reveal.
  • After uploading a new pattern definition file in the console, rules need to be redeployed from the rules page to ensure that endpoints have the modified definition file.
