Thank you for choosing Tanium. This document is intended to document changes between releases of Tanium Reveal.

Tanium Reveal 1.0.0

Release Date: 30 November 2018

Initial Features

  • Author rules to discover content patterns in specific file types and apply file labels
  • Author rulesets to include specific rules and assign computer groups
  • View endpoints affected by a particular rule or ruleset
  • Live-connect to an endpoint and view affected files and file snippets (Tanium Trace 2.7.7+ required)
  • Minimal default content provided

Known Issues and Workarounds

  • Reveal 1.0 is intended for evaluation in lab environments. Please consult with your Technical Account Manager for deployment guidance prior to installation on production endpoints.
  • Endpoint data store is not hashed, client hardening is recommended for client versions older than 7.2
  • RBAC roles have not been implemented for Reveal
  • Rulesets incorrectly show endpoints that are not assigned to that ruleset but use some of the same rules
  • Hexagon value for Total Endpoints with Sensitive Data may be incorrect
  • A rule with no File Type condition will not be applied

Tanium Reveal 1.0.1

Upgrade Notes

Rename the 'Reveal' Action group to 'Tanium Reveal' prior to upgrading.

Changes

  • Improved status sensor
  • Affected endpoints grid no longer reports endpoints w/o reveal installed.
  • Fixes and issue where the mac binary would not upgrade.
  • Ruleset profiles will only regenerate the Saved Actions if their computer group mappings have changed.
  • Action group has been renamed to "Tanium Reveal"
  • Fixes over reporting on the number of affected endpoints on home page.
  • Fixes an issue where donut charts would be cut off at lower resolutions.

Tanium Reveal 1.0.2

Upgrade Notes

  • Clean installation is required. Uninstall any existing version of Reveal prior to installation.
  • Endpoint data is now hashed, and only hashed data is searchable with quick search. Reveal automatically replaces legacy unhashed data over time.

Changes

  • Quick Search. Perform a text-based search within files across your enterprise.
  • Serviceable patterns and rule definitions. (Should be performed by Technical Account Managers only)
  • All around bug fixes and improvements.

Known Issues and Workarounds

  • Endpoint Tools uninstallation may not completely clean tools folder. Ensure the Reveal process is not running on any endpoints prior to uninstallation.
  • RBAC roles have not been implemented for Reveal
  • Rule sets incorrectly show endpoints that are not assigned to that rule set but use some of the same rules.
