Tanium Deploy 2.9.150.0000

Release Date: 11 January 2022

Improvements

  • Updated Operating Systems to include support for SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop.
  • Added built-in Operating System filters for Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2022, Windows 11, macOS 11, and macOS 12.

Resolved Issues

  • Fixed an issue that caused package files not to be re-downloaded when deployments fell out of targeting scope, then later re-entered targeting scope.
  • Fixed an issue that caused some installed applications not to be correctly detected on macOS.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the Inspect MSI button from appearing after uploading an MSI file to a software package.
  • Fixed the existing “Windows 10 - All Versions” Operating System, which also matched Windows 11. The existing Operating System is renamed to Windows 10 & 11 - All Versions. New built-in “Windows 10 - All Versions” and “Windows 11 - All Versions” Operating Systems have been added.
  • Fixed an issue that caused Operating System to match incorrectly for certain Windows 10 and Server 2016 versions.
  • Fixed an issue that caused macOS 11 and later to be identified as macOS 10.16 when evaluating Operating System restrictions.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the Deploy - Deployments sensor from returning all data on some endpoints in rare circumstances.
  • Fixed an issue that caused an API route for updating Self Service Profiles to take much longer than expected.
  • Fixed an issue that made the Deploy workbench inaccessible when the Tanium console language preference was set to Japanese.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the Update Now button in the Package Gallery from re-downloading new Package Gallery information.
  • Fixed an issue with the Inspect MSI button that caused the Install and Update operations to be generated without Require Source Files being selected, which would result in a failure with MSI exit code 1619 when these operations were run.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the Inspect MSI button from generating the installation requirement, causing the software package to be Install Eligible if a newer version was installed.
  • Fixed an issue that caused subprocess.log to appear to be world-writable on non-Windows endpoints.

Known Issues

  • Edits to Software Bundles will not be applied to existing deployments. Deployments should be recreated if the Software Packages included are changed.

Security Update

  • This release includes security updates. Details of the issues, including affected versions, and mitigation information can be obtained within Tanium's Support Portal, or by contacting your TAM.

Tanium Deploy 2.9.126.0000

Release Date: 9 November 2021

Resolved Issues

  • Fixed an issue that caused endpoints to falsely report “Unenforced” as their maintenance window enforcement status.
  • Fixed an issue with notifications that caused the Duration of Notification to be 0 when "Allow User to Postpone" was NOT selected, which resulted in notifications immediately starting the Countdown to Deadline period.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented Deploy from importing on Tanium Server 7.3.

Tanium Deploy 2.9.123.0000

Release Date: 26 October 2021

Resolved Issues

  • Fixed an issue that caused Self Service deployments to go into the wrong status and potentially retry tasks unnecessarily.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented deployments using "Latest Applicable" version from automatically re-running when a new version of the software package was imported from the Predefined Package Gallery.
  • Fixed the link to the Deploy API documentation (Help > Deploy API Documentation).
  • Fixed an issue that caused a single failing package applicability check to fail the entire scan.
  • Fixed an issue that caused deployments to display "false" for the Make Available Before Start Time option even if it was true.
  • Fixed an issue that caused deployments using the Download Immediately option with a pre-notification to get stuck in the Downloading status until deployment start time.
  • Fixed an issue that caused deployments with "Make Available Before Start" selected to go to a "failed" state in on the Self Service Client's Activity page instead of being displayed for early start.
  • Fixed an issue that caused hidden computer groups to be displayed in the computer group targeting interface used for deployments, Self Service profiles, and maintenance windows.
  • Fixed an issue that caused long deployment names to be truncated in the Self-Service Client.
  • Fixed an issue that caused scans to fail on severely resource-constrained Mac and Linux endpoints.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the Deploy Coverage Status chart to be empty.
  • Fixed an issue that could prevent some or all endpoint data from loading in the Deploy workbench in rare cases.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented files from completed deployments from being cleaned up.
  • Fixed an issue where the software package platform was redundantly displayed in software bundles.
  • Fixed an issue with default endpoint configuration approval permissions that could cause certain automatic approvals and rejections to fail if additional permissions had not been granted.

New Features

  • Added a new sensor, Deploy - Coverage Status Details, which shows the reason why endpoints are in Needs Attention or Unsupported statuses.
  • Added a new sensor, Deploy - Scan Errors, to detect package applicability scan errors.
  • Added a new sensor, Deploy - Maintenance Window Enforcements, to show all enforcements more efficiently.
  • Added an interface for updating and checking the status of the Predefined Package Gallery.
  • Added support for gathering Deploy's Software Manager troubleshooting artifacts directly from endpoints using Tanium Client Management.
  • Completely redesigned modern user interface for End User Self Service client on endpoints.
    • Self-Service Redesign: Added a downloading progress indicator to the Self Service Client.
    • Self-Service Redesign: Added an Updates view to self service.
    • Self-Service Redesign: Added the "Additional Details" field to software packages which allows adding a URL per package that will be displayed in the Self-Service Client.
    • Self-Service Redesign: Remove detail pages from packages and use tooltips instead.
    • Self-Service Redesign: Removed Install/Update/Remove buttons and made entire cards clickable in self service.
    • Self-Service Redesign: Add item count bubble on left side menu tabs.

Improvements

  • Improved the Deploy Tools uninstall to remove the euss.db as well.
  • Updated the Maintenance Window enforcement graphs, counts, and reporting links to use a new sensor, Deploy - Maintenance Window Enforcements, which operates more efficiently and makes troubleshooting easier.
