Release Notes Default Content (Version 8.4)

Thank you for choosing Tanium. This article documents changes between releases of Default Content, which is the solution formerly known as "Initial Content - Base".

Important

• The Default Content packages are now delivered via ECF. Please review this community article for migration instructions. This change means the packages no longer need to be recreated or updated after each solution update and the Distribute Tanium Standard Utilities - [Mac] and Distribute Tanium Standard Utilities - [Linux] packages are no longer necessary
• Endpoint Fingerprint sensor added to uniquely identify an endpoint in TDS
• Set Linux Tanium Client Logging Level and Set Mac Tanium Client Logging Level Packages are being deprecated in favor of the Set Tanium Client Logging Level [Non-Windows] Package.

• Adds additional registry type validation for sensor Tanium Client Core Health on Windows.

• Fixes an issue with the Installed Applications sensor for AIX that caused no results to be returned to the console.
• Fixes an issue with temporary files being generated under /var/temp when using the sensor Operating System Generation on AIX.

• Adds a new Is Laptop sensor that will return True if the chassis type is a laptop or similar portable device
• The Is Virtual sensor now supports WSLv2.
• The Disk Free Space sensor provides a more accurate representation of free disk space

• Fixes an issue where Ubuntu may report an incorrect MAC address
• Fixes an issue where the Operating System sensor adds extra spaces when reporting MacOS 13

• Fixes an issue where Default Content was distributing the incorrect 7za binary
