Thank you for choosing Tanium. This article documents changes between releases of Default Content, which is the solution formerly known as "Initial Content - Base".

Important

Any Scheduled Actions associated with these packages will need to have targeting updated after each update to the Default Content package. The default action group targeting will change to No Computers.

Improvements

  • Tanium PowerShell Execution Policy sensor description improved to specify use only for 32-bit Tanium Client process
  • Powershell Version sensor now supports Powershell Core on Mac and Linux
  • Increased Visibility in PowerShell Policies for 32-bit and 64-bit policies Affected Sensors: PowerShell Effective Policy, PowerShell Scope Policies
  • The default max age for the Tanium PowerShell Execution Policy sensor now defaults to one day
  • Prefixed “Error:” to Endpoint Fingerprint sensor failure message and made internal improvements to the Endpoint Fingerprint sensor

Fixes

  • Removed rpmdb_stat in sensors to decrease the risk of locking Affected Sensors: Tanium Client Installation Date, Tanium Client Installation Time
  • Is Virtual sensor no longer fails in Windows endpoints on Nutanix, oVirt, and BHYVE platforms
  • Update to prevent unnecessary network traffic from Linux endpoints. Affected sensors: Chassis Type, Virtual Platform, Is Virtual, VMware Guest.
  • Tanium Client Core Health no longer returns an error when the %PATH% environment registry value type is REG_SZ instead of REG_MULTI_SZ
  • Output type updated from Numeric to Text Affected sensors: Tanium Back Peer Address and Tanium Peer Address
  • Model Sensor no longer returns Cloud Instance Type in Linux Endpoints
  • Tanium Client Core Health no longer errors during expansion of environment strings

  • BREAKING CHANGE: PowerShell Version sensor now returns all installed versions of PowerShell, including Core instead of only the highest version number of only non-Core
  • BREAKING CHANGE: Windows OS Major Version, Tanium Client Version, Tanium File Version sensors no longer returns numeric Result Type instead of Version
  • Windows OS Type sensor now returns "Workstation" for Windows 10 Enterprise for Virtual Desktops
  • Operating System Generation sensor now properly detects Windows 10 Enterprise for Virtual Desktops
  • Whitespace detection correction, affecting Computer Serial Number sensor, Operating System Generation sensor, and Enhanced Tags - Add package
  • Tanium Action Log Sensor no longer inaccurately returns No Results from Linux endpoints
  • Distribute Tanium Standard Utilities package could execute multiple times on non-English endpoints
