Tanium Console 3.0.64.0000

General Availability Release Date: October 26, 2021

Requirements

The following Product Version or greater are required for Console 3.0.64:

These solutions should be upgraded to the required minimum version or removed prior to upgrade to Console 3.0. If the required minimum version is not present after the platform upgrade an error banner will be displayed for all users indicating which unsupported solutions are present. Users with access to Tanium Solutions will be directed to the Solutions page to either Upgrade or Remove the impacted solutions.

The Protect and Network Quarantine Solutions (NQS) are not supported by Console 3.0. These solutions no longer appear in the manifest or in the Tanium Solutions page. If either Protect or NQS are present after upgrade to Console 3.0 they can be removed via an uninstall link in the error banner on the Tanium Solutions page.

Important Notes

  • The language select option in user preferences was removed pending the completion of a full translation of the Console.
  • RBAC Deny Permission restrictions are limited to Administration and Platform Content Permissions. Deny restrictions can not be applied to Module Permissions.

Enhancements

This release includes a new console shell that removes legacy JavaScript dependencies, allows for future extensibility, and improves application performance.

  • Added the ability to clone Roles. Apply Content Set can be used during the cloning operation to change the content set for the roles permissions. This allows for quick provisioning of identical roles with differing content sets for isolation.
  • Package Edit or Create File Uploads allow for multiple files to be selected and uploaded at the same time.
  • Scheduled Actions now show and allow updating of the underlying Package when an update is available. The Scheduled Actions table can be filtered to just actions that have an available update.
  • Allow Disabling or Pause of LDAP/AD Sync configurations. Disable will remove role assignments to users and user groups from the configuration.>. Pause will stop the synchronization for the configuration but existing role assignments to users and user groups will remain.
  • Packages can now be deployed directly from the Packages page.
  • A Default User Group can be configured. New TaaS and SAML users will be assigned to the Default User Group.
  • Increased the file upload chunk size to increase file upload speed and reduce file upload time.
  • Add Preview mode for Roles, Personas, Users, and User Groups. Users with read access to these objects will be able to view the configuration for these objects.
  • Updated the Action Group filter for Scheduled Actions to allow the quick selection and removal of Action Groups in the table.
  • Recommended Installation will now check for and import Default Content and Default Computer Groups if they aren’t imported at the first login to the Tanium Server.
  • License expiration warnings are now only shown on login to Administrators.

Resolved Issues

  • Fixed an issue where solution import or configuration failures did not surface the underlying error message.
  • Fixed and issue where “Deleted User Content” was not accessible to Administrators on TaaS.
  • Fixed an issue where disabling the Computer Group Enable Filter option on an existing Computer Group would not disable the filter.
  • Fixed an issue where text in Group Sync LDAP configuration fields could cause the sync to return no results even if the Group Sync was set to “No”.
  • Fixed an issue where Client Status Details for an Action Status could not be exported.
  • Fixed an issue where the View Asset Details option was not available in the Action Status Client Status Details results.
  • Fixed an issue where scheduled actions could show the incorrect state for a checkbox parameter.
  • Fixed an issue where invalid special characters could be used as Sensor names.
  • Fixed an issue where Packages could no longer be sorted on the size column to group together and find Packages with “Pending” downloads.
  • Fixed an issue where the select for Saved Question Associated Packages overflowed the bottom of the screen and was truncated.
  • Fixed an issue where the Question History only showed the User instead of the User and Persona.
  • Fixed an issue where the “Show Status” button wasn’t displayed in Action History if the Scheduled Action, Action Group was modified.
  • Fixed an issue where there was no “Go Back” button on the Action Status page to return the user back to where they initiated the action.
  • Moved the package name before the action name when deploying an action so that the action name can be automatically populated from the package name.
  • Fixed and issue where content associated with a persona did not show in the Deleted User Content if the persona was deleted.
  • Miscellaneous small bug fixes.

Known Issues

  • Platform Services 1.3.339 will erroneously show as out of sync in the solutions page.
  • Cloned packages do not retain the verification query from the original package.
  • Modifying Proxy settings does not mirror Trusted Hosts List to the module server.
  • The associated actions are not displayed when editing an action group.
  • It isn’t possible to remove a Verification Query from a package.
  • Sensor editor is not highlighting script syntax.
  • Sensor preview is not returning expected results when editing or creating a sensor.
  • Moving Filtered Items in Content Set Moves ALL Items of Selected Type in Content Set.
