Notable Changes

  • The connect-crypto-schedule plugin schedule is now used for the Connect service account, in addition to the crypto-store keys. The legacy connect-service-account plugin schedule will automatically be removed.

Enhancements

  • Significant updates to the Tanium Audit Source to improve reliability and scale.
    • Now the default for use on Tanium Core Platform 7.4.4.1190 and later.
    • Audit Source is unavailable on older platforms for API compatibility.
    • Users of previous versions of the Tanium Core Platform can continue to use the Tanium Audit Log source.
  • Connect now automatically aborts connection runs that have stalled and block other connections from running. Connections abort if they do not send any rows to the destination in a 20 minute window.
  • Tanium Detect Event Source has been renamed to Tanium Threat Response.
  • SMB destinations now support format variables for file names.
  • Multiple improvements to the stability of the crypto store in Connect.
  • Connect waits for full service startup before enabling editing in the UI.
  • Service performance improvements resulting in significantly improved connection run times, particularly in connections that use the TDS source to a socket destination.
  • Multiple UI improvements throughout the Connect workbench.

Resolved Issues

  • Corrected PostgreSQL statement to remove user plugin schedules for deleted Tanium users which deleted more plugin schedule records than expected.
  • Fixed issues connecting to SQL Server browser service.
  • Fixed issue where the Connect User role could not manually run connections.
  • Fixed issue where simultaneously running multiple Comply connections produced incorrect results.
  • Improved logging to reduce log size.
  • Fixed issue where AWS S3 run logs incorrectly indicated object write prior to a successful write.
  • Fixed issue where Authentication Audit data was collapsed based on the object_id and not showing additional entries for the same object_id.
  • Fixed issue where the Flatten Results default settings for the TDS source was different than for the Saved Question source.
  • Fixed issue where Connect failed to write to SQL Database in Azure.
  • Fixed issue where SQL connections lost credentials after restarting the Connect service.
  • Fixed issue where connection runs failed on "Cannot read property 'cs' of undefined".
  • The Connect User role can no longer change destinations for connections that belong to the Connect Administrator role.
  • Fixed issue where the New Items Filter stopped working unexpectedly.
  • Clarified the timestamp format in column customization; options now include RFC-9333 rather than RFC-8601 to provide more clarity. Consult the RFC for several different acceptable treatments of time zone designators depending on location and settings used.
  • Fixed issue where users could not customize columns with Asset views if there was more than one saved view.
  • Fixed errors in Asset report column customizations.
  • Fixed issue where users were unable to import connections from JSON files.
  • Fixed issue where connections could freeze in running or starting states.

Known Issues

  • The Flatten Results option does not work for connections that use the Tanium Data Service source. To resolve, edit the connection and deselect the Flatten Results option.
  • Connections with the Syslog format do not load in when viewing connections. The Syslog format is deprecated; update the connection format from Syslog to Syslog RFC 5424 or any other available format prior to upgrade.
