Tanium Client Management 2.1.368

Improvements

• Adds the tanium-init.dat of the default deployment template to the client download bundle on the Client Management home page. The configuration file will include all settings and custom tags configured in the deployment template.
• Updates NodeJS on Tanium Client Management.
• Adds support for client upgrades through Endpoint Configuration’s Change Management feature.
• Adds TMS deployment runner logs to the module support bundle collection.

Bug Fixes

• Fixes an issue where the Index Max Database Size is limited to less than 4GB. The setting is limited to more than 512 MB and less than 100 GB. This fix requires Index-CX 3.6.2490 or later to be fully utilized. Lower versions will be limited to 4095 MB when the max size is configured for 4 GB or larger.
• Fixes an issue where upgrading the solution from a previous Client Management 2.1 on Windows environments results in a console error. The solution successfully upgrades, however the console reports an error.

Security Update

• This release includes security updates. Details of the issue, including affected versions, and mitigation information, can be obtained within Tanium's Support Portal, or by contacting your TAM.

Known Issues

• As this release fixes the solution upgrade issue for future versions, Tanium administrators for windows environments will still receive an error upon initial import. Reimporting this version after 10 minutes will resolve the issue completely. Alternatively, prior to importing this version, ending the TaniumClientDeployEngine.exe process will negate the requirement for a re-import.

• Fixes an issue where manifest synchronization fails when the enable_314_protocol setting is not correctly applied.
• Fixes an issue where the ServerNameList box permitted an invalid setting with spaces, which would cause an error when attempting to start a deployment. Additional validation was added to the user interface.
• Fixes an issue where the documentation link for Client Management points to an invalid URL.
• Fixes an issue where the Client Management service recreates the Client Upgrade package too frequently.
• Fixes an issue where when cloning a deployment, special characters in the name are converted to character codes.

Known Issues

• When configuring the Max Index Database Size setting, there is currently a limitation of 3GB or smaller.

Tanium Client Management 2.1.336

Enhancements

• Tanium Client Management now allows customers to deploy the Tanium Client to endpoints directly from the Tanium console using the Direct Connect satellite functionality. Customers with on-premises Tanium can now use Tanium Client Management for client deployments without the need for third party, or custom applications. System requirements for remote deployment satellites.
• Tanium Client Management now adds scheduling capabilities to Client Deployments. Users can schedule deployments with any targeting type to start at a specific time, and re-issue them on a recurring basis.

Improvements

• Adds miscellaneous internal and third-party updates.
• Updates the Client Upgrade content to support new operating systems and CPU architectures.
• Adds new Client Health sensor to support future improvements.

Bug Fixes

• Fixes an issue where multiple client upgrades running at the same time can interfere with overlapping functions. This problem can potentially cause an endpoint to lose connectivity to the Tanium Server until the Tanium Client service is started.
• Fixes an issue where the AIX installer is corrupted when downloaded from Tanium Client Management.
• Fixes an issue where TDSB is unable to start when Index is missing.

Requirements

• Tanium Client Management now requires Tanium Platform version 7.5 or greater.
• Tanium Client Management deployments have a minimum Tanium Client version of 7.4.7.1094. (edited 1/31/2024)

Known Issues

• Tanium Client Management does not currently support deploying to Solaris 10 endpoints. Additionally, non-windows endpoints must have sudo installed for a successful deployment.
• Customers upgrading to Tanium Client Management 2.1.336 from Tanium Client Management 1.9 and prior (pre-RDB versions) will not have their credentials, configurations, or deployments migrated. Upgrading to 1.12, then 2.1 will migrate those items successfully.
• The downloadable bundle does not include a configured tanium-init.dat. Customers can create custom tanium-init.dat files by creating a Deployment Template, and download the configuration file from there.
• The Client Management Operator and Administrator roles add additional Discover permissions, discover location permissions write, that can reveal all interfaces regardless of location restrictions configured within Discover. (Edited May 6, 2024)
