Tanium Asset 1.7.2.0059
Release Date: September 24th, 2019
Bug Fixes
- Fixed issue with Asset SQL Server sensor. Invalid values were being loaded because the sensor was not returning a TSE-Error.
- Fixed issue introduced in 1.7 that inadvertently removed the >, >=, <, & <= operators when creating a filter for a field with text, ip address, or version data types.
- Fixed issue that could cause the asset service to fail and restart when an attribute was deleted before it was loaded.
- Fixed issue that prevented the creation of new Flexera destinations. The error was caused by a naming conflict with the Asset File Evidence sensor.
- Fixed issue that prevented a user from saving edits to Tanium source without providing user credentials.
- Fixed issue that prevented viewing summary reports that include two tables.
- Fixed issue that prevented filters from being applied when using a report link that requires user login.
- Fixed issue with Asset Network Adapter sensor for Solaris. Each interface includes the appropriate gateway address.
- Fixed issue with Asset Physical Disk sensor for AIX. Interface names with spaces were not being parsed correctly.
- Fixed issue with the delete attribute check for database sources.
- Fixed issue with flashing asset service notification when initially loading the console.
- Fixed issue with report counts after applying Asset user permissions. Counts now reset and recalculate when permissions are modified. Restarting the Asset service is not required.
- Fixed issue with the attributes select list in the Edit Report and Edit View pages. Toggling the expand collapse attributes no longer result in a page error.
Improvements

- Changed the Asset AD Query content sensors to support changes in future versions of AD Query content solution. The changes are backward compatible with prior versions of AD Query content.
- Changed the ServiceNow load process to allow explicit specification of the "identification" fields used to uniquely identify records in ServiceNow when synchronizing asset data.
- The Schedules page was updated to include information about the current run if running, the last run if nothing is running, and refinements for disabled schedules.

Tanium Asset 1.7.0.0895
Release Date: August 20th, 2019
Asset 1.7 delivers refined reporting workflow and advanced filtering options on top of a new technology stack which includes a complete rewrite of the Asset workbench.
Feature Improvements
- Redesigned "Asset Reports" page includes sorting and filtering of reports along with workflow enhancements which allow you to return to the page you originated from when creating, editing, and viewing reports.
- Redesigned "Report Edit" page includes new column selector which organizes columns based on how data is organized in Asset vs how the data is sourced from Tanium.
- Redesigned "Report View" page includes:
- In place editing allows you to save or create a new report directly from the report view to include changes to the report filter, column visibility, and column display order.
- Quick filters provide "drill down" capabilities to include or exclude specific values simply by hovering over any value in the report details and choosing an option.
- Enhanced filter builder provides "data type" specific value editors for numeric, size, speed, date / time, boolean and other values.
- New "relative date" filters allows creation of reports to limit results to "within the last", "within the next", and "with this" X number of Hours, Days, Weeks, Months, Years, Calendar Days, Calendar Weeks, Calendar Months, and Calendar Years.
- New "empty value" filters include "is empty", "is not empty", "is null", "is not null".
- New "text matching" operators for filtering of text values include "starts with", "does not start with", "ends with", "does not end with".
- New "regular expression" operators for advanced filtering of text values include "matches", "does not match", "matches (case sensitive)", and "does not match (case sensitive)".
- Enhanced form validation for all editing / input of values includes highlighting of invalid field inputs, in place error highlighting of invalid data inputs, and "automatic scroll to edit error" which positions the page to easily view invalid values that may be off screen when submitting a form.
- Redesigned inventory management for "Attributes" management includes:
- Grid view display of all available attributes which includes columns for "Source", "Table", "Field", source "Sensor" and "Column", database "Table Name" and "Field Name" and "Data Type".
- Provides ability for user to delete unused or no longer needed attributes directly within Asset. In order to delete an attribute a user muse first disable the attribute and then may delete the attribute when the attribute is no longer used in any reports, views, destinations, or permissions.
- Creating attributes now provides the ability to specify details about the attribute including the asset data type, display name, and how the source sensor should be related to a computer when loading asset data from Tanium server.
- ServiceNow destination enhancements includes optimizations for reuse of session ids across requests to improve performance.
- ServiceNow destination improvement to deduplicate records based on ServiceNow uniqueness where it differs from Asset uniqueness. This will prevent "failed" batches from being skipped by Asset when synchronizing with ServiceNow.
Bug Fixes
- ServiceNow mapping will now have a default value of "true" for autoCreate. The autoCreate determines how to handle missing lookup values tables such as cmdb_model and core_company. Previously the default was false and as such records would not be creating in ServiceNow if they did not exist.
- Software packages, instances and other related items will synchronize related records based on the filters specified in the associated view. If no filters are set, the default, all records will be synchronized.
- Data loaded from Tanium Server is now using UTC time for existing assets, previously it was using local server time.
Known Issues
- Asset reports do not support multiple reference tables in a single report. In previous versions of Asset a user could create a report with multiple "reference" tables that would generate nonsensical data or often times timeout. In this release Asset will warn the user about existing reports that contain multiple reference tables and restrict the user from being able to create new reports with multiple reference attributes.
Security Update
This release includes security updates. Details of the issue, including affected versions, and mitigation information, can be obtained within Tanium's Support Portal, or by contacting your TAM.
