Special Notes
- Due to security issues against this release of Tanium Server, Tanium strongly recommends upgrading to at least v7.4.5.1240 if you are using this version.
- This version of Tanium Server shipped with Console v1.4.3.0135.
Security Updates
- N/A.
New Features
- The Tanium Server's
/metricURL now offers a number of SOAP timing measures. - The Tanium Server
/metricspage now offershas_batonwith a value of one as an indicator of theTSholding the Baton. - The Tanium Server now offers a Local Setting
LogSOAPRequestswhich when set to a value of one will log all incoming SOAP request bodies to the log filesoap-requests*.txt. NOTE: use this setting sparingly and for debugging purposes only, since it generates a large amount of logging.
Improvements
- The Tanium Server will only display Question History results that match the Persona under which they were asked.
Bug Fixes
- Improved the processing efficiency of per-Sensor string retry counts while rendering the Tanium Server
/metricsURL and thus reducing CPU consumption during this operation. - Improved the processing efficiency of adding Roles and Content Sets to a system with an already large number of these objects, thus reducing the wait time associated with these insertion operations.
- Fixed an issue in the Tanium Server which caused files from new Packages to appear as cached on one system in an Active-Active pair but remain "processing" forever on the other system.
- Fixed an issue with the Tanium Server RBAC controls by which two different user accounts with the exact same access privilege could not see each other's Question results.
- Fixed an issue with the Tanium Server import API that failed on duplicated privileges even when they were marked as deleted.
- Fixed an issue with the Tanium Server's API RBAC controls which would throw an
RBACInsufficientPrivilegeerror when a user tried to update their console preferences. - Fixed a problem with the Tanium Server's cache handling which would cause failures when trying to add a file to a newly created Package.
- Fixed a condition in the Tanium Server REST API where requests for
groupsobjects misused the underlying object cache and would take orders of magnitude longer to execute than its equivalent SOAP operation.
Known Issues and Workarounds
- Large manual Computer Groups fail to be recognized by the Tanium Server upon creation.
Workaround: There is no workaround for this behavior. Avoid current Tanium Server v7.4 if your make use of very large manual Computer Groups until a fix is released. If you must create such large groups please plan accordingly, since you may very well require a Tanium Server restart after having created them. NOTE that this behavior does not affect existing Computer Groups or Question and Action targeting, only the Console display of such groups.
