Security Updates

Improvements

  • Tanium components now use OpenSSL v1.0.2w.
  • Added a TDownloader setting (MinFreeSpaceInMB, default 1024MB) that will stop an operation (logging error code 1008) if downloading a file will reduce the remaining free disk space below the configured threshold.
  • Improved a cosmetic issue in the Question Parser where it would add the modifiers "any" or "all" to conditions even when they were redundant with the default evaluation of a filter condition.
  • Tanium Server API access tokens are now bound to limits of [64 to 1,024] characters in length, as controlled by the api_token_string_length Global Setting.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug in the Tanium Server's API that, when requesting Questions associated to a Saved Question and specifying saved_question_qids_include_expired_flag=0 would return still return expired Questions in the request result.
  • Fixed an issue in accessing the Tanium Server's /metrics route where an authenticated Administrator user would always get an HTTP-403: Forbidden response.
  • Fixed an issue in the handling of solution workbench privilege definitions which could trigger the logging of SQL error: more than one row returned by a subquery used as an expression in the updateModuleImpliedPrivilegesThread.

Known Issues and Workarounds

  • After installing this update, there could be issues with some modules changing their service account definition from one non-admin user to another non-admin user, or from an admin user to a non-admin user. In order to workaround this issue, update the module to version that accommodates this change in the server, or use an account with admin privileges as the service account.
