Thank you for choosing Tanium. The following Release Notes document changes between releases of the Tanium Server and Tanium Client.
This platform release includes a full release of the Linux Tanium Server and Tanium Clients, with the exception of MacOS, RHEL 5, OEL 5.

Tanium Server (Linux) and Tanium Client v7.2.314.3211

Improvements

  • Added certificate based authentication to TDownloader to allow downloads of protected package files
  • Allow saved questions to be deleted by users with appropriate access, and not only the original owner
  • Improved performance of question results snapshot management

Security Update

  • This release includes security updates. Details of the issues, including affected versions and mitigation information, can be obtained within Tanium's Support Portal or by contacting your TAM.

Server Bug Fixes

  • Resolved an issue where LDAP sync would inadvertently delete and recreate user groups
  • Resolved an issue where TDownloader would fail to create a zip file over SMB
  • Resolved a server crash on Linux platform when performing network reset
  • Resolved an issue when assigning a user access to more than 50 computer groups
  • Hidden sensors are no longer included in parser results
  • Resolved an issue where some auth log messages would go to the general log instead of the authentication log
  • Resolved issue of missing dependencies with Zone Server installation on Linux
  • Resolved issue with snapshots on Linux having incorrect expiration times

Client Bug Fixes

  • Resolved an issue where the client would not ignore python related system environment variables
  • Resolved an issue where the Windows Tanium Client Installer would not respect /D if installer launched as non-admin
  • The Tanium Client IP Address sensor is now a client implemented sensor
  • Resolved issue internal python sensor execution
  • Resolved issue with Client API downloads when whitelisted URL expiration was set a large value
  • Resolved an issue with manual groups synchronization
  • Resolved an issue with child process communication and sensors which write directly to stdout
  • Resolved an issue with the Tanium Client Windows installer and python runtime
  • Resolved an issue with python execution engine crash
  • Resolved an issue where the Windows Tanium Client installer would allow execution on Windows XP / 2003, even though those platforms are not supported with the 7.2 client
  • Resolved an issue with upgrading the Linux Tanium Client
  • Resolved an issue with the client syncing the delete of sensors
  • Resolved an issue with the 7.2 client not using nisdomain name, if set, to replicate 6.0 client behavior

Known Issues and Workarounds

  • A new installation of v7.2.314.3211 or an update from a pre-v7.2 version could impact TLS communications with v7.2.314.2962 clients.

Workaround: Upgrade all 7.2 clients to 7.2.314.3211 or contact your TAM for instructions to allow TLS communications between 7.2.314.2962 clients and a 7.2.314.3211 server.
